Just over a year ago, Arizona PIRG became the 29th PIRG working at the statewide level to deliver persistent, result-oriented public interest policy that encourages a fair, sustainable economy, protects our environment and fosters responsive, democratic government. In addition to our state work to protect Arizonans, our federal lobbying office in Washington, D.C., forwards our mission on a national level.

Thanks to the support of Arizonans across the state, Arizona PIRG has already made an impact.

As appears on page two, some of Arizona PIRG’s top legislative priorities were signed into law: minimum energy efficiency standards on appliances and legislation requiring gift cards in Arizona to disclose clearly the expiration date and information on any relevant fees.

The Arizona PIRG Education Fund’s “Renewing Arizona’s Economy” report (cover page) continues to receive accolades from decision-makers, coalition partners and concerned citizens who recognize the economic and public health benefits of increasing clean, renewable energy, such as solar and wind power, in Arizona.

While our hard work has been paying off, Arizona PIRG does not rest on its laurels. With your continued support, we will continue to make an impact.

The decision that the Arizona Corporation Commission makes on increasing the state’s renewable energy standard (cover page) will impact Arizonans for decades to come. We will continue to actively participate in the proceedings and provide the Commission with research and citizen support. Identity theft (page three) and other consumer complaints that affect our pocketbooks and take time to resolve can often be prevented through enacting better policy. In the upcoming legislative session, Arizona PIRG plans to work for common-sense consumer protections.

Arizona PIRG has been privileged to speak with individuals from Winslow to Prescott to Tucson to the Valley and points in between as we work to represent the public interest.

We enjoy being your public interest organization and look forward to sharing more victories with you.
