Arizona PIRG Report

Arizona PIRG's Diane E. Brown

Executive Director Diane E Brown

We all know that with a rapidly increasing population our state is bound to experience growing pains. However, Arizona has options. Whether it is having a local, clean water supply now and for the future, or an energy supply that takes advantage of Arizona’s solar and wind potential, we can either choose a path that favors public health and safety, or one that keeps the status quo. (see article, page 1).

Arizona PIRG offers meaningful, practical solutions to opportunities facing our state and nation. For example, although global warming is an international issue, we recognize the implications for Arizona and we strive to achieve solutions to reduce its threat across the nation and in our state (see article, page 3). Whether it is cleaner cars on the road, using our energy more efficiently, or generating more of our energy from solar and other clean energy sources, implementing common-sense options bodes well for our economy and our environment.

While our efforts are based in Arizona, we work closely with other state PIRGs across the country and U.S. PIRG to address problems not only in Arizona but also across the Southwest and our nation.

Combining the power of students and citizens with professional research and advocacy from a full-time staff of over 400 advocates, organizers, attorneys, and scientists, Arizona PIRG and the state PIRGs work to win reforms and make an impact on people’s lives.

On every issue we work on, there is somebody—whether it is irresponsible developers, oil companies or some elected officials—who want to keep things as they are. That’s where Arizona PIRG comes in—to help make sure that Arizona and our nation makes the right choice. Thank you for supporting our efforts to make this happen.
