Summer 2006

The Arizona Corporation Commission, the state’s utility regulatory agency, recently moved one step closer to increasing the use of Arizona’s solar and other clean energy sources.
Arizona PIRG has been promoting the use of solar, wind, clean biomass (plant-based) and geothermal energy to power Arizona’s homes and businesses. This will both stabilize and diversify energy supply, moving Arizona towards energy independence while protecting public health and improving rural economies.
Through initiating the formal rulemaking process, the Commission demonstrated support for the public health and economic benefits solar and other clean energy sources can provide Arizona.
Public hearings are expected to be held this summer to provide concerned citizens a chance to comment. If you wish to participate, please contact Arizona PIRG at (602) 252-9227 or info@arizonapirg.org. |
