A New Focus, The Same Real Results

You have probably become accustomed to Arizona PIRG working on a wide array of public interest issues.

We have won victories to protect consumers from identity theft; we have worked to make health care more affordable to all Arizonans, we have taken steps toward protecting some of Arizona’s most important natural areas from development and we led efforts to pass energy efficiency legislation estimated to save consumers and businesses more than $680 million.

Yet, the challenges we face from special interests are mounting.

That is why we have decided that the best way to advance our work is to separate into two organizations that will together address the threats to the public interest.

Environment Arizona (www.Environment
Arizona.org) will be the new home of our environmental work, while Arizona PIRG will focus on consumer protections and good government issues.
Arizona PIRG’s renewed focus will allow us to be more effective consumer advocates and government watchdogs.

By zeroing in on problems like our state’s diminishing water supply, transportation, health care and political reform, we can provoke greater public debate on these issues, giving Arizona’s citizens and legislators more reasons to support our work.

So, what can you expect from Arizona PIRG?

You can expect expanded and invigorated consumer and government watchdog programs. You can expect rigorous research. You can expect practical solutions. As always, you can expect effective action on behalf of the public interest.

Thanks to the support of members like you, Arizona PIRG has grown into an effective public interest group. As we move into an exciting new era of advocacy for the public interest, we look forward to your continued support of our work.
